A fine .32-40 (W&B) SINGLE-SHOT SPORTING-TARGET RIFLE, MODEL '1885 HIGH-WALL', serial no. 28281,
for 1888, with heavy two-stage 28in. blued barrel signed 'MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO NEW HAVEN CONN USA.' and marked with the calibre at breech, dove-tailed folding ring and pillar fore-sight, blanking plate to the rear-sight dove-tail, colour-hardened plain receiver, central hammer, top-tang mounted with a period 'Marbles' vernier peep-sight, walnut butt-stock with crescent iron heel-plate, colour-hardened under-lever, splinter fore-end with inlet ebony tip, much original finish remains.
